Android Applications Released

We are pleased to announce the release of applications for mobile devices running on Android (2.2 or higher). Please read below for a description of the Whistler app.

You can access them at the Android Market by clicking here:

Interested in the iPhone version instead?

The Whistler 3D Trail Map allows you to experience the Whistler ski area like never before. All the Lifts and Trails are marked, along with features like the Terrain Parks, Restaurants, Children’s Zones and the Ski Area Boundary. Everything is represented in 3D so you are able to ‘fly’ around as if you were in a helicopter and explore the entire resort.

We have also mapped the hotels and main services in the Village of Whistler (eg banks, doctors, grocery stores).

We suggest you visit our website (http://whistler3dsolutions.com/whistler) to see the web-based version of the Trail Map. It will help you learn the layout of both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains so you will instantly know where you are in relation to everything else (when using the GPS feature of your mobile device). Please note: the web-based version has more interactive features than the mobile version does (for now….)

This Application uses the ‘Google Earth App’, so you need to have it installed on your mobile device. The ‘Google Earth App’ is available on the Android Marketplace for free, and you will be directed to download it from within ours.

This Application requires an internet connection. We suggest you load our Map while in a WiFi zone (either in your hotel or in a restaurant on the mountains) While still on WiFi, zoom in and around a bit to allow the imagery to load (and cache). Then, when skiing, simply open the ‘Google Earth App’ (our map will still be loaded). We also suggest you increase the cache size of the ‘Google Earth App’ (available in it’s settings). Doing these suggestions will help minimize any data usage.

Stay tuned for a major upgrade to the Web-based versions :)
